What Does Your Kid Learn From His Pre-school?



Mother is always the first teacher for her child. But there are other things which a kid needs to learn apart from his homely school. Things like how you can mingle with other kids, share and play with your friends and basic manners. As a parent, we are always curious when our child comes from school, wondering what he learned new today. We often ask our kid, what did you do today in school?


Pre-schoolers come anywhere from 18 months to 5 years. The first step is the toddler, then as they go to higher class like nursery, they learn:

  1. Rhymes
  2. Hand-eye co-ordination.
  3. Fine motor skills


After nursery, it is junior K G

  1. Drawing
  2. Tracing
  3. Coloring
  4. Recognition of alphabets and numbers
  5. Flowers, parts of body and other important things.

In Senior KG, kids learn

  1. How to hold the pencil.
  2. Practice writing
  3. Saying stories.
  4. Writing alphabets and numbers.

Pre-school is an important medium for a child. A child experiences variety of emotions and also physical and mental skills, which a pre-school can provide. A pre-school will open a whole new world of intellectual skills, your kid will possess through group play and cognitive skills.

When your kid learns to recognize all the alphabets, sing rhymes, it will give him the confidence when he goes in the big school. A pre-school is a stepping stone towards the world of school. You can also help your child to increase his interest in his pre-school by reading story books with him and singing rhymes and participating
in role plays with him. When you read with the kid, you inculcate the habit of reading.


Your child’s pre-school is the temple of knowledge and an opportunity to enhance his personality.  Developing his social skills and how he can play in a group is also an important part of his pre-school activities. Kids grow up pretty fast than you can think. It is important to channel their energies in the right direction and at the right time. A pre-school is definitely a stepping stone in that direction.
